A new beginning

Hello Blonde & Balanced friends.  My name is TK and as mentioned on Friday, today I am joining the B&B team.  I’m not going to lie, I am a little bit nervous and a whole lot excited.  “It’s always difficult when a group of new friends meet together for the first time to get acquainted, so I’m perfectly prepared to start the ball rolling.” Those are not my words, it’s just a line from one of my favourite movies of all time – can you guess which movie? I’ll give you a hint…it’s based on a board game.

I am really excited and looking forward to telling you all about my own life and how I went from being completely off balance and almost bankrupt to finding the perfect match in almost every aspect of my life from my relationship to my career. However just like the first day of school, there is always that nervous feeling in the pit of my stomach as I wonder “Will they like me?”

So to make this new beginning a little bit less awkward (or is that only me), let’s get to know each other.

In my free time I like to…

At the risk of sounding like an online dating ad let me tell you a bit about myself.  I love reading crime fiction books; some of my favourite authors include James Patterson, Megan Abbott and Babe Walker, you may know her from “White Girl Problems”.  I really love travelling; my favourite city in the world is New York City and I also really love the south of Spain.

I spend my down time watching movies and listening to music; my favourite movie is Jaws and I listen to all types of music from Motown to Hip Hop, but I could listen to Jay Z ALL-DAY-LONG.  My current workout playlist includes: We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together by Taylor Swift, Crazy by Pitbull, Waka Waka by Shakira and Gangster by 50 Cent – just to name a few.

The one thing that you will always find in my fridge is…

Iced tea.  I drink an average of 3 to 4 glasses a day.  In an effort to start saving money I am slowly learning to cook.  I try to eat at home as often as possible, but my busy lifestyle between working 9 to 5, building my own writing business, spending quality time with my long time boyfriend and trying to have fun leaves very little time to spend in the kitchen – and I really don’t like cleaning dishes.

Personal Confession: I have been a vegetarian for almost five years and to be totally honest I miss Chicken Mc Nuggets almost every single day.

My boyfriend doesn’t really support my cooking ventures – actually that’s not true.  He encourages me to cook, but he doesn’t share the meals due to a previous bad experience.  I always tell him that he really needs to learn to let things go.  I mean you give a person food poisoning one time, and they can just never let it go. Right now my cooking experiments (as my boyfriend calls them) are limited to soups, sandwiches, Mexican food, stir frys and the occasional cupcakes, muffins and banana bread. Whenever I find a really great recipe I will definitely share it with you.

So that’s just a little bit about me.  Now it’s your turn…
