$10 Easy Fixes for Your Worst Beauty Mistakes

Keep lips soft with Blistex

Three easy fixes for your worst beauty mistakes and they all cost less than $10.

If your hair, skin and face just don’t seem to be cooperating this winter, don’t fret.  We’ve got easy fixes for common beauty mistakes.  If you’re like me you always want to have controlled, shiny hair and soft, kissable lips; unfortunately in harsh cold weather that’s not always possible.

Women can spent hundreds, even thousands, of dollars over the years to try and fix the worst beauty mistakes.  Today I’m sharing some of my favorite products to help keep you looking fresh and beautiful – just like you walk out of a salon every morning.

The best part?  Nothing costs more than $10.

Dry, chapped lips

Betty flavor lip balm

$1.79 each at pharmacies or 3.69 for 3 @ Drugstore.com

Worst beauty mistake ever.  Chapped lips are both annoying and unpleasant to look at.  Licking your lips in the cold weather is a  no-no and having  a lip balm in your pocket at all times is a must-do.

I absolutely love Blistex products.  My everyday go to lip balm is the Medicated Berry Balm, it “seals in moisture to soothe and prevent dry lips.” However if my chapped lips get really out of control I switch to the Moisture Melt gel ($2.19 each @ Drugstore.com and $2.49 @ Ulta Beauty).

It has shea butter which is extremely moistening.  The only downside is it has little blue moisture beads inside which don’t always melt right away and can look like poppy seeds on your lips – stuck in your lip gloss.  It’s not a cute look so if you’re going to use the Blistex Moisture Melt make sure you have a compact mirror on hand.

Chipped manicures

essie manicure top coat

$10 @ Wal-Mart, Target and drug stores

There is nothing more unattractive than chipped nail polish, it really drives me crazy.  Sometimes I have to change my polish twice a week and who has time for that?!  I feel that I’ve been on a lifelong quest to find the perfect base coat and top coat to make my polish last the week. I’m finally happy to say that I found an easy fix to this beauty mistake.

I recently tried the essie gel setter top coat thanks to Influenster Canada and I have to tell you I’m obsessed. It’s “gel like color and shine day after day” says essie.  I have had it on for three days now and it looks just like it did on the first day – and not a single chip.

The best part is that it dries really fast.  Sometimes at home manis take forever to dry, but for a thick gel-like top coat this was an easy fix to my perfect nail problem.

Unruly and frizzy hair

R&B hair cream from LUSH is nourishing and moisturizing.  It leaves hair soft and frizz free.  LUSH says this hair moisturizer helps “revive and balance misbehaving hair.”  If you have curly or wavy hair mousses can leave your hair feeling sticky and gels can leave your hair crunchy.  This cream keeps your hair soft and manageable – you can run your hands through it.

You only need a little bit (no more than the size of a quarter), otherwise your hair will look greasy.  I use it to keep my curls in control when I let my hair air dry and to tame fly-aways when I blow out my hair straight.

LUSH offers a free sample of anything in the store with every purchase.  So next time you’re in a LUSH store ask for a FREE sample of R&B.
