Good morning Loves. It’s officially summer and I don’t know about you but this time of the year always makes me want to spend money. Maybe it’s because we’re outside more in the warm weather, maybe because summertime brings a bunch of activities and festivals or maybe it’s just because the sunshine puts us in a better mood – and that makes me want to spend.
As a financial planner I am by no means telling you to go out and spend your money just because you feel like it, but what I am saying is to spend your money wisely and enjoy it.
These are four ways I like to spend my money and it’s without any regrets.
A well deserved vacation
As you know I love to travel and taking a vacation is one way I always like to spend my money. I actually believe all vacations are well deserved. No one says you have to wait two years to take one, heck you can take one twice a year if that’s what you need to do.
As long as the vacation is well planned, you get the best deal possible on accommodations and you’re not getting into debt over it then a vacation is always money well spent.
A last minute road trip
What’s better than hopping into a car with your best friends and spending hours chatting about life and love while driving to a fantastic weekend getaway? I can’t think of anything better. Vacations are nice but they take time to plan and save up. Road trips can be spontaneous because they’re a lot cheaper.
In my group of friends there’s a lot more of us who can jump in a car for a road trip because it’s cheaper and no time off work is usually required. It’s a great way to get out of town and spend a few days with good friends.
A big sale at your fave store
OK this is coming up because right now both Bath & Body Works as well as Victoria’s Secret are having their semi annual sales (they’re owned by the same company). I never regret spending money at either of these two stores – especially when everything is on sale.
Now mind you this doesn’t mean I shop at Victoria’s Secret very often and shell out hundreds of dollars for $60 bras and $20 underwear. It means I shop at the outlet in New Jersey and during the semi annual sale where you can get nightgowns for $10 and perfume for $5. Now that’s a good deal.
Something to make you happy
When I’m having a bad day only a few things can make me happy: chocolate chip cookie dough, ice cream and buying myself something nice. That’s all it takes and I never feel bad about it because I do it on a budget.
I go to the ATM, take out $20 and go crazy. If you’re in the mood to shop you’ll be surprised just how much stuff $20 can buy.
How do you spend your money wisely?
