The whole idea of “being happier” can seem kind of overwhelming. I mean, “happiness” is a huge goal, and a lot of the things we do to become happier are big goals that can take a long time to achieve: saving money, getting healthier, changing jobs, whatever.
It can be discouraging sometimes. Even if you’re working to reach a goal, you don’t always see the progress on a day to day level. You don’t feel like you’re getting anywhere, and you can’t really see things changing much.
Which is why I want to ask you a question this morning:
What can you do today to be happier?
The answer won’t be big and challenging or complicated. It will be something little. That’s the point…because every day, no matter what’s going on or how we’re feeling, we can do something to make us happier, even if it’s only just a little bit.
So, what can you do?
Here are mine:
I want to be less stressed at work…I can stop freaking out over projects coming down the road and just focus on what I can get done today.
I want to be less stressed at home…I can stop looking at all the things that need fixing (our poor, old house!) and just focus on what I can make better today.
I want to stop feeling anxious in general…I can go outside, stand in the sunshine, and take a long, deep breath. (Or a bunch of long, deep breaths until I really start to feel it.)
See how easy it is? So, now it’s your turn!
What can YOU do to be happier today?

This is a great post. We all get overwhelmed by big things that we can’t control. It’s good to focus on things that we can change and make us happy.
I’m going to have dinner with my hubby, brother, and mom tonight to be with the most important people in my life.
I’m going to read before bed tonight to relax and enjoy a quiet moment.
I’m having coffee right to start the day.
That sounds like a lovely plan! Little actions can make SUCH a big difference!
