It’s happened to all of us – we run out of shaving cream before we are finished shaving our legs! When that happens, you can either leave with an uneven shave, or you can search for alternatives. But what is a good replacement for shaving cream?
Don’t fret! There are plenty of products you can use if you run out of shaving cream. So, your second choice is completely up to you and what you have on hand. Here are some alternatives to consider.
Shower Gel
Shower gel can work for a shaving cream replacement. And as an additional plus, you can clean your skin while you shave, saving you time and an extra step! Just be sure to apply plenty of lotion after your shower so your legs don’t become dry.
Body Lotion
If you prefer to have something more like the consistency of actual shaving cream, you may want to consider using body lotion. Regular body lotion makes for a good shaving cream substitute because of its creamy consistency. While you likely don’t keep body lotion in the shower, it’s usually within easy reach and will leave your legs feeling super soft.
Conditioner
One of the easiest substitutes to use in a pinch is a hair conditioner. For one, it’s already in your shower, making it easy to grab when you need it. Secondly, it’s thicker and moisturizing, so your skin won’t completely dry out and will allow your razor to glide across your skin.
Coconut Oil
Short on every type of regular beauty product? Then you can venture into the kitchen. Surprisingly, cooking items like coconut oil make for a great shaving cream substitute, plus it’s extra moisturizing and smells amazing. And there are a ton of other ways to incorporate coconut oil into your beauty routines, such as using it as a hair conditioning treatment, makeup remover, and more!
Soap
And if you like to keep things simple, regular body soap can work as an alternative to shaving cream. The key here is to lather it into a foam-like consistency by using a loofah or body brush. That way, it’s easier to apply and see.
Men’s Shaving Cream
Who says men and women have to have separate shaving cream? If you live with a male partner or roommate, you can use his shaving cream for your legs. It’s basically the same product, but with a different smell. Further, if you’re looking to avoid the pink tax, you can purchase men’s shaving cream for much cheaper than women’s.
